LaVerne Schutt

LaVerne Schutt (nee Mueller), 80, of Waterloo, died June 12, 2018, in St. Louis. 

She was born Nov. 6, 1937, in Waterloo, daughter of the late Erwin W. and Luella C. Mueller (nee Henke).

She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo; History Museum of Monroe County; and numerous church organizations. 

LaVerne had a passion for cooking for others.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Schutt; children Donna (Mark) Nielsen, Rick (Linda) Schutt, and Sandy (Joe) Benyo; grandchildren Mikael Nielsen, Ryan (Kat) Nielsen, Grant Nielsen, Brett Benyo, Bethany (Mitch) Wattles, Lauren Schutt, Christina (James) Mason, and Steven (Carrie) Tullock; great-grandchildren Dawson Nielsen, Jonah Wattles, Cayleigh Mason and Belle Mason; sister Linda Hard; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

LaVerne is preceded in death by her parents, brother Paul Mueller, and sister Doris E. A. Ritzel.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. June 14, at Quernheim Funeral Home, and 9-10 a.m. June 15, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. June 15, at the church, Pastor Michael Southcombe officiating.

Interment will follow at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.

As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo or Monroe County History Museum.
