This week’s Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Gibault volleyball player Lauren Goldschmidt. The junior outside hitter recorded 12 kills in Thursday’s Class 2A Sparta Sectional title game victory over Trico.

Goldschmidt leads the team in kills this season with 374, and is second on team with 287 digs. She also has 37 aces, 135 points and 20 blocks this season for the 24-14 Hawks, who will play Albion (Edwards County) in the Vandalia Supersectional on Saturday.
