Kenneth L. Bonenberger, 84, of Waterloo, died Aug. 7, 2024, in Creve Coeur, Mo., after his heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 24, 1940, in Chicago.

He is survived by his wife Carol (nee Shore) Bonenberger (married 61 years); children David (Daphne) Bonenberger and Jani (John) Anderson; grandsons Zachary Bonenberger, Brady Anderson and Luke Anderson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Bessie VanHooser, Wayne (Renee) Shore, Olga Shore, William (Janet) Shore, Daniel Shore and Earl (Jan) Shore; nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Lynn, mother Katherine (nee Themelis) Bonenberger and brother-in-law Gary Shore.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Aug. 11 and 9-10 a.m. Aug. 12 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo.

A funeral service will follow visitation Aug. 12 at the funeral home.

Interment will be at St. Paul Churchyard.

As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to Evelyn’s House.
