The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Columbia High School girls basketball player Karsen Jany. The freshman was recently named to the Candy Cane Classic All-Tournament Team at Gibault after leading the Eagles to a third place finish. She is averaging more than 10 points per game to lead the team, including 40 percent shooting from three-point range.  She also leads the team in steals, averaging two per game.
