Janet Louise Brown

Janet Louise Brown, nee Richardson, 76, of East St. Louis, died May 6, 2013, in Waterloo.

She was born Feb. 24, 1937, in St. Louis, daughter of the late James E. and Nora M. (nee Powe) Richardson.

Brown attended St. Louis Public Schools and graduated from Sumner High School in St. Louis. Brown was a model for Ebony Magazine, PET Milk Corp., and various other advertising agencies. Her career life also included seasonal work for Famous-Barr. Janet brought a contagious and beautiful smile to everyone she came in contact with. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nanna and friend to many people, and will be sorely missed.

Survivors include children Robin L. Holley (Brown-Pike), Pam L. Holley (Brown) and Aaron Brown (fiancee Janine Johnson); grandchildren Latasha and Wesley; great-grandchild Bryson; step-son Fred L. Brown Jr.; step-daughter Penny Lisa Brown; step-grandchildren Dustin, Kerry Glen, Chad, Jamie, Nick, Brittany, Maria, Marcus and Kathleen; along with nieces and nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Fred L. Brown (of 36 years); son Walter G. Brown; brothers James E. Richardson Jr. and Robert Harris Jr.; and sister Anna Richardson.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. until time of service Thursday, May 9, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Funeral services take place 7 p.m. May 9 at the funeral home, Pastor Lonnie Trembly officiating.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
