Irene W. Akers | Obituary

Irene W. Akers (nee Windsor), 92, of Waterloo, died Dec. 5, 2013, in Waterloo.

She was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Mineola, Mo., daughter of the late Floyd B. and Mary (nee Tate) Windsor.

She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo.

Survivors include children Edward (Susan) Gibbs and Ken Gibbs (special friend Connie Esker); step-children Linda (Louis) Pape, Janet (Darryl) Asselmeier, Diane (Bob) Lavender, John (Valerie) Akers and Pastor Mark (Joani) Akers.

She was preceded in death by parents; husbands James K. Gibbs and Marvin Akers; son Raymond W. Gibbs; daughter Virginia I. Gibbs and daughter-in-law Mary Anne Gibbs.

Visitation was Dec. 9-10 at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 10 at the funeral home with Pastor Fred Wehrenberg officiating.

Memorials may be made to Oak Hill Walking Trail or Oasis International Ministry.
