House struck by car in Waterloo

The Waterloo police and fire departments along with Monroe County EMS responded to the 600 block of James Street just after 5:30 p.m. Friday after a classic car struck the side of a house.

Police said a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS driven by Lenny L. Schwarze, 56, of Valmeyer, struck the side of a residence owned by James R. Glessner at 606 James Street.

Schwarze was transported by Monroe County EMS to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for treatment unspecified injuries.

Schwarze was cited by police for reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

The crash report states that the Chevelle was “screeching its tires and going at a high rate of speed” before losing control and striking the house.
