House fire in Dupo

The Dupo and Prairie du Pont fire departments responded to a fully engulfed house fire in the 500 block of North Fifth Street in Dupo about 1:30 a.m. Monday.

A woman inside the home at the time of the incident was able to safely exit the burning structure, but one of her pets perished in the blaze.

The woman was treated at the scene by Dupo EMS but did not require medical transport. The interior of the home suffered extensive damage, fire officials said. The Illinois State Fire Marshal is investigating a cause of the blaze.
