Hole in roadway on Hill Castle Road

Pictured is the erosion on the side of Hill Castle Road late Monday afternoon.

Road district personnel were assisted late Monday afternoon by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department in repairing small erosion discovered along Hill Castle Road about one-quarter mile north of FF Road. The hole was about the size of a manhole cover on the side of the road and drops about 10 feet. A creek runs underneath the road and is controlled by culverts.

That portion of Hill Castle Road was closed Monday as crews worked to repair the eroded portion of roadway.
