Hockey playoffs begin Thursday

The high school club hockey playoffs begin Thursday, with both the Columbia Ice Eagles and Waterloo-Freeburg Raging Bulldogs hoping for a deep postseason run.

Columbia (9-7-1) plays Collinsville in a best-of-three games format. Game one is Monday at Granite City at 8:40 p.m. Game two takes place Feb. 13.

The Ice Eagles were 1-1 against Collinsville in the regular season.

Waterloo-Freeburg (7-9-1) will play Edwardsville 1A starting this Thursday night in Granite City. Game time is 8 p.m. Game two is set for Tuesday night at 8:15 p.m.
