The Republic-Times Team of the Week is the Southern Illinois Hawks 17U AAU/club girls basketball team. The 17U Hawks, of which Waterloo High School hoops standouts Norah Gum and Sam Lindhorst are team members, competed in the BlueStar Nationals in Chicago in early July, going 2-3 against tough competition. The Hawks also played recently in the U.S. Junior Nationals 35th annual National Championships in Richmond, Va.
