Girls soccer kudos for locals

The Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association recently announced its all-state and all-sectional teams from the recently completed girls soccer season, with several locals selected.

Two Columbia players were named to the IHSSCA All-State Team. 

Maddie Mauch, a graduating senior, and senior-to-be Riley Mathews were the two Eagles selected as all-state. 

Mauch, who also earned an IHSSCA Academic All-Sectional nod, finished the season with 43 goals and 23 assists for the Eagles, who went 20-4-1 this spring. 

Mathews added 23 goals and 19 assists on the season. 

Others from Columbia receiving IHSSCA kudos were Jessica Bearley (All-Sectional), Reese Woelfel (All-Sectional) and Ava Schmidt (All-Sectional Sportsmanship).

Waterloo players named on the IHSSCA end-of-season awards list were graduating senior Liv Colson (Honorable Mention All-Sectional) and Grace Pohl (All-Sectional).  

Gibault players who received IHSSCA honors were Emily Richardson (Honorable Mention All-Sectional), Clara Willson (Academic All-Sectional), Kamille Grohmann (All-Sectional) and Avery Gilpin (All-Sectional Sportsmanship).
