The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Waterloo High School wrestler Gavin Hearren. The sophomore went 5-0 at the recent Mississippi Valley Conference Tournament in the 113-pound weight class, earning first team all-conference. Hearren placed second at the Mascoutah Regional on Saturday to advance to the sectional round. For the season, he is 27-14. “He has made tremendous strides this season,” Waterloo head coach Chase Guercio said.
