Columbia police, fire department and EMS personnel responded about 8:20 a.m. Friday to a two-vehicle crash with injury on Route 3 northbound at North Main Street.

Morning rush hour traffic was re-routed as emergency personnel worked the crash scene.

Police said a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Theresa Schulte, 60, of Golden Eagle, Ill., was attempting to turn left onto North Main from southbound Route 3 when it was struck by a 2006 Chrysler driven by Andrew Coy, 31, of Waterloo, which was heading north on Route 3. Coy told police he had reached down to grab a computer bag that fell to the floor of his vehicle. He was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.

Schulte was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County.
