Friday fire call on Imbs Station Road

The Columbia Fire Department responded about 9:20 a.m. Friday for a residential structure fire at 2913 Imbs Station Road near Millstadt to provide mutual aid to the Camp Jackson and Millstadt fire departments.

The occupants of the house were removed and crews had the fire extinguished around 9:45 a.m.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department said deputies arrived and observed flames coming from the roof of the residence with the interior full of smoke. A neighbor had called and said he did not know how long the residence had been on fire or if it was occupied.

Deputies could hear the resident yelling for help inside the residence and were able to locate him in the east side bedroom.

Deputies broke the bedroom window and were able to pull the resident through the bedroom window to safety.

Millstadt EMS arrived on scene and treated a deputy for a cut on his wrist during the incident.

EMS transported the resident, a 63-year-old male, to Memorial Hospital in Belleville for treatment of smoke exposure.
