Friday crash south of Waterloo

Emergency personnel responded shortly before 2 p.m. Friday to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Route 3 at KK Road south of Waterloo.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department said a 2014 Toyota Camry driven by a 16-year-old female attempted to pass a 2020 Ford Escape driven by Nicholas Knoebel, 35, of St. Louis, on the left as it began to turn left onto KK Road from southbound Route 3. This resulted in the Camry rear-ending the Escape, causing both vehicles to go off the roadway.

Knoebel and a 6-year-old passenger in his vehicle were transported to Red Bud Regional Hospital by Monroe County EMS for treatment of injuries that were believed to be minor.
