The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is pitcher Evan Spears of the Millstadt Green Machine in the Mon-Clair League. Spears, a righty, went 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA in 14 innings to help lead Millstadt to the Mon-Clair League playoffs championship earlier this month. Spears, who previously pitched at McKendree University, also went 3-0 with a 3.42 ERA on the mound for Millstadt during the regular season.
