Esther M. VanMeter | Obituary
Esther M. VanMeter (nee Burwick), 77, of Waterloo, Sept. 16, 2017, at Oak Hill Arbor Court, died surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 1, 1940, in Orlando, Fla., daughter of the late Avery and Leola Burwick.
Esther graduated from Boone High School in Orlando, Fla., in 1958. She worked as a secretary for Parks College in Cahokia and for Pieper Martin Law Firm in St. Louis until 1990.
She was the secretary of the Illinois division of Winnebago Itaska Travelers Club and an avid crafter and NASCAR fan.
Surviving are her two children, Rendy (Kevin) Hahn of Waterloo, and Kenneth D. (Frankie) VanMeter of Dupo; a sister, Nancy (Tommy) Walker of Hernando, Fla.; a brother, Ed Burwick of Georgetown, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Linda Sharon (Dale) Bond of Pocahontas, and Pamela (Don) Huschle of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; two grandsons, Benjamin Hahn of Waterloo, and Jason (Darcy) Hahn of Lincoln, Neb.; and two great-grandchildren, Lyla and Chandler Hahn. She was also a dear aunt, cousin and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth A. VanMeter, and her parents.
Esther requested a private cremation to be held.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 7, at Mystic Oak Golf Course, Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Hill Magnolia Terrace Senior Living.
