Erwin Robert Hofstetter, 87, of Dupo, born Dec. 17, 1936, died April 26, 2024, at Freeburg Care Center with family by his side. 

Erwin was a retired fifth generation grain farmer. Erv loved many things including hunting, fishing, attending his grandkids sporting events, having breakfast at Denny’s and taking evening rides with his dogs Max and Sarah to watch the deer. 

He is survived by his sons Eric (Shari) Hofstetter of East Carondelet and Michael (Kelli) Hofstetter of Columbia; grandchildren Kelci and Kylie Hofstetter and Sean, Ryan and Brooke Hofstetter; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Elvira Hofstetter; wife Helen Hofstetter to whom he was married 50 years; brother Herbert Hofstetter; and sister Sharon Garfield. 

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. April 30 at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. May 1st at the funeral  home.

Interment will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
