Eagles win again; ‘Dogs postponed

The Columbia High School football team improved to 3-0 with a weather-shortened 42-0 victory at Dupo on Friday.

Meanwhile, Waterloo is forced to play on Saturday for the second time this season due to lightning and severe weather. Friday’s game was postponed due to lightning and the Bulldogs will host Carbondale at 7 p.m. Saturday, in a battle of 1-1 teams.

The Eagles scored early and often against the smaller Tigers, and led 42-0 at halftime. The game was called due to lightning at 8:49 of the fourth quarter with Columbia up by that same score.

Colton Byrd scored on first quarter touchdown runs of 46 and 29 yards to put the Eagles on top 14-0. He finished with 127 yards rushing on eight carries and scored three TDs.

Columbia quarterback Greg Long was a perfect 7-for-7 passing for 156 yards and two touchdowns.

Eagles wide receiver Jordan Holmes caught four passes for 121 yards at one score.
