Dupo picks up first win of season
The Dupo Tigers football team picked up its first win of the season Saturday, topping St. Louis Principia, 26-6, on the road.
Principia kept the game close through much of the first half, but the Tigers defense took over and Dupo’s offense reached the endzone often to earn the victory.
Alex Ball rushed for 192 yards on 23 carries and scored 3 TDs for the Tigers.
Austin Francis and Kodee Keys contributed with receptions of 35 and 43 yards on the day.
Keys led the Dupo defense with 8 solo tackles and an interception. Adam Nichols also had an interception.
“Saturday’s game went well for us. We battled all afternoon and finally came out on top. I’m very proud of these young men,” Dupo head coach Brad Weier said after the game. “We are gaining confidence, and hopefully can carry that into Carlyle this week.”
The Tigers will face Cahokia Conference foe Carlyle (2-4) on the road this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
