David W. Toal | Obituary

Mr. David “Dave” Westaver Toal, 65, of Cary, N.C., died peacefully on Jan. 19, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Jack and Betty Toal of Waterloo. David was born on Sept. 14, 1958, in St. Louis.

David was a graduate of Gibault Catholic High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., where he played baseball. He worked for many years as an account executive in computer software sales. His passion for baseball continued as an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. 

His family was most important to him. He loved the beach and spent many happy days with them visiting the North Carolina and Florida coasts. 

In addition, the family is very grateful for the staff at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh, N.C. during Dave’s time at home on hospice care.

He is survived by his loving wife Libby Robinson Toal and daughter, Ava Margaret Toal, both of Cary, N.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law John (Cindy) Toal and James (Karla) Toal; siblings-in-law Rick Tangeman and Tammy (Joe) Crabtree; along with an aunt; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many dear friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Tangeman.

 Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Jan. 31, 2024, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, N.C.. 

A committal service will be held immediately following in St. Andrew’s Columbarium.
