Crash on Route 3 south of Waterloo

Emergency personnel responded shortly before 8 p.m. Friday to a two-vehicle crash with injury on Route 3 near Old Red Bud Road south of Waterloo. The vehicles involved were a white Ford Focus and green Ford Ranger pickup, which ended up about 75 yards off the roadway in a field. Illinois State Police said a white Ford Focus driven by Jarrod D. Grimes, 28, of Red Bud, pulled out of the parking lot of Route 3 Bar & Grill onto southbound Route 3, coming into the path of a northbound Ford Ranger driven by Lea Hartz, 30, of Springfield. Hartz was transported to Red Bud Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A passenger in her truck, Edward Calloway, 30, of Springfield, was not injured. Grimes was arrested for DUI.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County EMS and Waterloo Fire Department responded to the crash along with Illinois State Police.
