Crash on Route 163 near Millstadt

Millstadt fire and EMS responded shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday to a two-vehicle crash involving a grain truck and pickup truck on Route 163 near the bridge at Prairie du Pont Creek north of Millstadt.

Illinois State Police said a grain truck hauling corn driven by Leon Kreher, 60, of New Athens, was traveling north on 163 when it collided with a Ford F-250 driven by Cecelia Dunlap, 60, of St. Louis, which was pulling out of Spring Haven Stables.

Dunlap was extricated from her vehicle by firefighters and transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis for treatment of serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening. She was cited for failure to yield and no insurance.

The grain truck was knocked on its side from the force of the collision and firefighters assisted in containing a small diesel fuel spill.
