Columbia fire and police departments, along with Monroe County EMS, responded to a two-vehicle crash with one injury on northbound Admiral Parkway at Admiral Weinel Boulevard in Columbia at about 10:10 a.m. Wednesday.

A dark-colored Hyundai Sonata rear-ended a Mitsubishi Eclipse. The female driver of the Hyundai, Melanie Murray, 34, of Red Bud, was transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse sustained significant rear-end damage in the Wednesday crash.

An official who responded to the crash told the Republic-Times that the woman was applying makeup while driving and struck the rear of the Eclipse, which was stopped at the light.

The driver of the Eclipse, Tyler Rutz, 21, of Waterloo, was not injured.

Murray was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for expired registration.
