This week’s Republic-Times Team of the Week is the Columbia High School baseball team coached by Keith Jany.

The Eagles are 8-4 on the season heading into play this week and have won five in a row. That includes Friday’s 7-1 victory over Gibault at GCS Ballpark in which pitchers Brendan Wilhelm and Jacob Hill combined for a one-hitter. The Eagles have allowed just five total runs in the current five-game winning streak.

Columbia dropped a game Tuesday to Freeburg, which was followed by a 6-5 win over New Athens on Wednesday and a 7-6 loss at Breese Central on Thursday. The Eagles are now 8-4 on the season heading into Friday’s game against Althoff.
