Clinton L. Morrissett | Obituary

Clinton L. Morrissett, 83, of Waterloo, died July 21, 2024, in Columbia. He was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Flint, Mich.

Clint was a devoted father and grandfather who prioritized his family above all else. Known for his insightful advice and wisdom, Clint always wore a warm smile. 

An enthusiastic golfer and a passionate supporter of the St. Louis Blues, he also had a remarkable sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. 

He consistently showcased great style, enjoying the thrill of driving his red Corvette while sporting a white flat golf hat. Clint’s infectious smile and the aroma of his pipe were signatures of his presence. He always saw the silver lining in every situation. 

His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren shined brightly, and he left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta M. Morrissett (nee Korte); children Phyllis (John) Hockenberry, Gary (Lana) Morrissett, Julia (James) Hammontree, Janet (Tim) Duffy and Bryan Morrissett; grandchildren Joshua Tolen, Amanda (Robert) Stucky, Jamie (Zachary) Gaurmer, Samuel Chavez, Joe Viscuso, Raechel Morrissett, James Hammontree Jr., Benjamin Morrissett and Madeline Morrissett; brother-in-laws Ellery Hawkins and Paul Gullett; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and June (nee Sewell) Morrissett; brothers Stanley and Wallace Morrissett; sister Saundra Gullett; and his first wife Mary Morrissett (nee Vernier).

Visitation is 9-11 a.m. July 29 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo.

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home with Father Linus Umoren C.M. officiating.

As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to: Ss. Peter & Paul Church; or Ss. Peter & Paul School.
