The Columbia Volunteer Fire Department responded about 5 p.m. Monday to a chimney fire at Immaculate Conception Catholic School on South Main Street.

Apparently, a bird’s nest and other materials caught fire in the chimney, resulting in smoke inside the building.

The incident was resolved in a short amount of time with minimal damage reported. Classes will be held as scheduled at the school on Tuesday.
