The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Valmeyer High School softball standout Chelsea Hooker.

The catcher enjoyed an amazing junior season for the Pirates, earning all-conference honors in the Kaskaskia Division of the Cahokia Conference.

Her 1.000 slugging percentage ranked fifth in the entire St. Louis area. She also ranked eighth in the area with her .517 batting average. Her .582 on base percentage ranked seventh in the area.

Hooker also hit 15 doubles, three home runs and had 23 RBIs. (submitted photo)
