Changes coming to Gibault

Gibault Catholic High School in Waterloo shared a number of job postings last week on social media, marking one of the larger steps the school is taking in a restructuring process announced late last month.

Among the job postings are positions for math teacher, athletic director and principal – Diocese of Belleville Superintendent of Schools Jonathan Birdsong said current Gibault Principal Sarah Lanham will be working in the diocese’s Office of Education starting July 1, still supporting the school.

Also listed are openings for several other office positions, including advancement and admissions coordinator, faith formation coordinator, education success coordinator, school administrative assistant and business manager.

This is the latest step in an administrative office restructuring plan announced March 28 via Gibault’s Facebook page.

As that post notes, the school will be moving to a “president-principal” model for the new school year, with the addition of a president to focus on the school’s community outreach and strategic direction while the principal continues to focus on the more internal administrative responsibilities such as day-to-day operations of the school and overseeing students and staff.

Shortly before this March 28 post, the diocese had announced that Katie Robben – who currently serves as assistant principal of Romero Academy at Resurrection School in Cincinnati, Ohio – will be stepping in as Gibault’s president on July 1.

The post says that each of the previously mentioned positions will be filled through an interview process taking place in May.

The post also offers some additional explanation for the restructuring, saying that the president-principal model is meant to “streamline decision-making processes, improve communication channels and ensure a stronger focus on both educational leadership and operational management.”
