The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Columbia High School swimmer Carter Nelson. The senior completed his high school swimming career by placing seventh in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events at the IHSA state swim meet over the weekend. Nelson made four trips to state in four years at CHS, earning four state medals. He will continue his swimming career at Texas A&M upon graduation this spring.
