Car damages power pole in Waterloo

Emergency personnel responded shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday to a single-vehicle injury crash in the 900 block of Route 3 across from Applebee’s Grill & Bar in Waterloo.

A car went off the roadway and heavily damaged a metal utility pole across from Applebee’s. The Waterloo Fire Department responded for extrication of the driver, who was transported by Monroe County EMS ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The WFD also provided traffic control, as that stretch of Route 3 was closed to motorists for City of Waterloo utilities to address the damaged power pole.

The vehicle involved was a 2015 Ford Focus driven by Jason M. Hinrichs, 40, of Pevely, Mo.
