Burglaries reported in Columbia

Columbia police are investigating multiple burglary reports received late last week. Two such incidents occurred either late last Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning in the 700 block of St. Louis Street. One of the burglaries was reported at 4 a.m. Dec. 30 and involved a vehicle and carport, with items missing from each. Another burglary was reported to a detached garage in the 700 block of St. Louis Street, police said.

Also in that time frame, car break-ins were reported in the 2000 block of Lakeshore Drive and 1200 block of Rapp Street, Columbia police said. Tools and valuables left in plain view inside the vehicles were among the items reported missing.

There were no signs of forced entry in any of these incidents, police said.

Detectives were checking pawn shops in Cahokia and other parts of the metro east as part of an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to call the Columbia Police Department at 281-5151.
