The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Gibault Catholic High School cross country runner Brooke Biffar.

The freshman won the Sparta Invitational on Sept. 13 with a time of 19:49.66 and the Marissa Invitational on Sept. 6 with a time of 19:35.

Biffar also placed eighth out of more than 300 runners at the recent Edwardsville Invitational and raced to a second place finish in her first high school meet at New Athens. (Sean McGowan photo)
