The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is baseball player Brian Lupa of the Millstadt Green Machine in the Mon-Clair League. Lupa was named playoff MVP after going 7-for-17 (.412) with seven RBIs in the four-game postseason for Millstadt, which won the title. He had the game-winning RBIs in both wins of the finals Saturday over the Belleville Rockies. Lupa, a Millstadt native, longtime Green Machine player and graduate of Gibault Catholic High School, hit .350 during the regular season with 21 RBIs.
