The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Gibault basketball player Brian Deterding.

The 6-foot-5 senior averaged 15.5 points and nine rebounds for the Hawks this season, including a 22-point performance to lead his team to a 48-40 win over Okawville that secured the Class 1A sectional championship Friday night at White Hall.
