Boys hoops teams set for mid-winter tourneys

The Columbia, Waterloo and Gibault boys basketball teams are getting set to compete in prominent area mid-winter tournaments at the end of January. The Eagles are playing in the Chick-fil-A Classic at Belleville East High School. The Bulldogs will attempt to win their third title in four years at the 52nd annual Sparta Mid-Winter Classic. The Hawks will participate in the competitive Okawville Invitational Tournament. All three teams begin tourney play on Tuesday night, Jan. 19.

Chick-fil-A Classic at Belleville East
Tuesday, Jan. 19: Columbia vs. Belleville East, 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 21: Columbia vs. Althoff, 6 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 23: Columbia vs. Belleville West, 5 p.m.
Sparta Mid-Winter Classic
Tuesday, Jan. 19: Waterloo vs. DuQuoin, 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 21: Waterloo vs. Murphysboro, 7 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 22: Waterloo vs. Red Bud, 5:30 p.m.

Okawville Invitational Tournament
Tuesday, Jan. 19: Gibault vs. Vandalia, 6 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 21: Gibault vs. Wesclin, 7:30 p.m.
