The boys high school basketball season begins this week, with local teams competing in Thanksgiving tournaments around the area. Below are the local tournament schedules and pairings.

Columbia will play in the Lebanon Tournament Nov. 29 through Dec. 7. The Lebanon Tournament is in its 16th year. Columbia previously won the tourney in 1999 and 2007.

Gibault, Valmeyer and Dupo will all travel to Edwardsville to play in the Metro East Lutheran Turkey Tip-Off Nov. 25 through 30. On Monday, Gibault defeated Mount Olive, Dupo took on Metro East Lutheran and Valmeyer paired up with Gillespie. In Tuesday’s local action, Gibault will take on Gillespie.

Waterloo will host its own Thanksgiving Tournament Nov. 25-30. The round robin tourney tipped off Monday when Highland took on Gateway Tech. On Tuesday, Mater Dei will face Gateway, followed by Waterloo and Edwardsville.
