Boil order lifted in Waterloo subdivision

UPDATED at 6 p.m. on Wednesday: City officials informed the Republic-Times that the boil order issued for the Stonefield subdivision in Waterloo has been lifted.

(our earlier story)

A boil order was issued late Tuesday morning for homes in the Stonefield subdivision off Vandebrook Drive in Waterloo after a water main was struck.

The affected homes are on Cody Drive, Fieldstone Drive, Summerfield Drive, Stonefield Drive and Shamrock Drive, city officials said. A city employee was moving dirt as part of work for the electric department and struck the line.

The water is still safe to bathe, shower and cook with, but all water used for drinking purposes must first be boiled until further notice.

The city will notify affected residents by phone and email once an “all clear” has been given to resume normal drinking water activity.
