Blown transformer causes Columbia fire

The Columbia Fire Department responded about 10:15 a.m. Thursday to a fence on fire following a blown transformer behind a residence at 1105 N. Main Street.

Upon arrival, a fire official said the blown transformer also resulted in burnt wires at the scene. Ameren was contacted to repair the transformer.
