Betty Ann Limestall | Obituary
Betty Ann Limestall nee Knowles, 86, of Highland, formerly of Waterloo, died Oct. 28, 2015, in Highland.
She was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Belleville, daughter of the late William and Anne Knowles (nee Zink).
Betty was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo, where she served in numerous capacities over the years, including VBS teacher, liaison for the Boy Scouts, stewardship committee, consistory and church treasurer for three years.
She was active in the PTA when her children were young, including serving as room mother and on a committee for the building of the Zahnow School. Betty was a co-Girl Scout leader for Troop #368 for many years and neighborhood chair of the River Bluffs Council.
She served for 10 years as the first woman appointed to the Waterloo Zoning Board of Appeals, including serving as secretary. Her work experience included the U.S. federal government during the war, Randolph County Clerk’s office and, after her children were grown, the Monroe County Assessor’s Office.
Betty enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, mushroom-hunting, gardening, bowling, playing cards with friends and reading.
She is survived by her children Beverly (Bjorn) Lindgren, Susan Limestall and Kevin (Ellen) Limestall; daughter-in-law Brenda Limestall; grandchildren Matthew Limestall, Joy (Chris) Krouper, Erin Limestall, Courtney (Kyle) Kaufman and Sami Lindgren; and great-grandson Konnor Kaufman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wallace H. Limestall, son Steven P. Limestall, granddaughter Sarah A. Limestall and four siblings.
Visitation is Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Oct. 31, at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Merlyn Lawrence and Pastor Matt Friz officiating.
Interment will follow at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.
