Barbara L. Riley | Obituary

Barbara L. Riley, nee Foy, 80, of Dupo, died Nov. 13, 2014 in Dupo, after a long struggle with various illnesses.

She was born March 18, 1934 in Gurley, Ala., daughter of the late Everett Lee Foy and Donna Mae Foy, nee Williams.

Barbara was a dedicated wife and mother. She was also an award winning Avon representative for 25 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia.  As long as her health permitted, she worked on charity quilt projects. She also volunteered as an election official for many years.

Barbara’s main interests revolved around serving her large family and God. She loved people, and she also enjoyed caring for her plants and flowers. She also loved animals.

She is survived by her sister, Carole (Ron) McCulloch of Hermitage, Tenn.; a brother, Everett Lee (Lee Ann) Foy Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; her children, Joe Alan (Linda) Riley of Ruston, La., Rodger (Brenda) Riley of Swansea, Gene (Penny) Riley of Jefferson City, Mo., and Donna C. Riley of O’Fallon, Mo.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Joe D. Riley; her  parents, Everett Lee Foy and Donna Mae Foy, nee Williams; and a son-in-law, Daniel Schreckenberg.

Visitation took place Nov. 16  at Braun Family Funeral Home in Columbia and Nov. 17 at First Baptist Church in Columbia.

Funeral services took place Nov. 17 at the church.

Interment followed at Holy Family/St. Joseph Cemetery in Dupo.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the church.
