All-Local Girls Hoops Team

Brooke Miller

The local high school girls basketball scene showed off plenty of all-around skills at a consistent level this winter.

Here’s a look at the R-T’s All-Local Girls Basketball Team for the 2023-24 season.

FIRST TEAM

Brooke Miller, Valmeyer. This three-sport standout had an amazing senior campaign on the court for the Pirates. She averaged 16.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.87 steals and nearly three blocks per game on the season.

Sam Schmuke, Columbia. Already the all-time career steals leader for Eagles girls hoops, this junior guard put together an all-state season by averaging 13 points, 3.2 assists and 4.7 steals per game.

Jordan Holten, Columbia. With a first name the same as the last name of probably the greatest NBA player of all time, the pressure is on to perform in hoops. Holten didn’t disappoint in her junior season, averaging 12.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 51 percent from the floor.

Bri Baldridge, Gibault. A senior leader for a Hawks squad that went on a postseason run, Baldridge led her team in scoring at nearly 12 points per game.

Liv Colson, Waterloo. An injury prevented this senior from having the season she intended, but Colson still led the Bulldogs at 10.7 points per game. She also averaged six rebounds and 3.33 steals per contest and finished her WHS career at No. 2 all-time in steals.

SECOND TEAM

Kierstin Miller, Valmeyer. Following a stellar season on the volleyball court, this senior put together an equally impressive hoops campaign. She averaged 10 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.13 steals per contest for the Pirates.

Addison Mitchell, Dupo. Leading the way for the Tigers as a sophomore, Mitchell averaged 9.8 points and 3.13 steals per game.

Mallory Thompson, Waterloo. Another super sophomore this season, Thompson averaged 9.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and nearly two steals per game for the Bulldogs. The future certainly looks bright.

Ava Langhans, Columbia. The third junior from the Eagles on this list, Langhans averaged nine points per game and shot 78 percent from the free throw line this season.

Kristin Smith, Waterloo. This hard-working junior put together a solid season for the Bulldogs, who will look to her for leadership next winter, Smith averaged 8.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in addition to shooting 72 percent from the free throw line and playing stellar defense.
