Albert E. “Gene” Mroz, 81, of Waterloo, died Jan. 4, 2016, in St. Louis.

He was born Jan. 21, 1934, in E. St. Louis, son of the late John Mroz Sr. and Evelyn R. Mroz (nee Hunt).

He is survived by his children Lisa Stewart and Lori Mroz; grandson Bradley (Kim) Stewart; great-grandchildren Harper Stewart and Presley Stewart; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Ruth (nee Cherry); son Lon P. Mroz; and brothers Dr. Joseph H. Mroz and John Mroz Jr.

As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to: Donor’s Choice.

A memorial visitation will be Jan. 7, from 9 to 10 a.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.

A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m., at the church.
