The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is soccer player Abby Phelps of Waterloo. After starring at both Gibault Catholic High School and then the University of Evansville, Phelps is now playing professional soccer for 1. FFC Hof in Germany. FFC Hof is one of the most successful women’s soccer teams in northern Bavaria. Phelps played for Spain’s FC Malaga prior to joining the German squad this summer. She scored her first goal for FFC Hof last week during a 3-1 victory in a test match against Bischofswerdaer FV.
