The Valmeyer junior high boys basketball team is this week’s Republic-Times Team of the Week.

The Pirates are state bound after winning their regional basketball championship last Thursday night, defeating Chester, 38-35.

The team will travel to Rend Lake College Friday to play in the State Tournament. Game time is 4:45 p.m.

Valmeyer is led by coach Mike McCarthy.
