Another strange object sighting reported
A follow-up to last month’s story of strange unidentified lights seen by police and onlookers in the sky east of Waterloo on Oct. 23, an Oakville, Mo. man reported a similar sighting just a week later.
Craig Gissy, who works as a financial advisor for Edward Jones in St. Louis, told the Republic-Times he was walking a dog in his Oakville neighborhood, just across the river from Columbia, when he saw a strange object floating in the air around 8:40 p.m. on Oct. 31.
Similar to the sighting near Paderborn, Gissy said the object appeared to hover in the air and was round in shape.
While those witnessing the Oct. 23 sighting reported alternating light colors of red, green, blue and orange on the object, Gissy said the color he saw on Oct. 31 was more yellowish-orange and very bright.
“Craziest thing I ever saw,” he said. “I couldn’t believe my eyes and was fascinated by the object, and there was no sound. I’m not sure if this thing was 200 feet in the air or 2,000 miles away (while it was stationary). It looked close, but didn’t have any reference point.
“Once it started to move southeast, it was apparent it was not a plane, helicopter, satellite, moon, firework, or anything obvious to me!”
St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Boehm stated in his official report he observed “what appeared to be a satellite in the evening sky” on Oct. 23.
Monroe County Sheriff Dan Kelley said two of his deputies also observed the strange lights on Oct. 23. His department contacted Scott Air Force Base, but officials there said they didn’t have any aircraft in that area at the time.
The base referred the sheriff’s department to the National UFO Reporting Center phone number, which is 206-722-3000.
