Crash involving semi, SUV in Columbia
Emergency personnel responded at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday to a crash involving a 2006 Kenmore tractor pulling a flatbed trailer and a white 2016 Ford Explorer at the intersection of Route 3 and Valmeyer Road in Columbia.
Columbia police, fire department and EMS personnel responded to the scene, and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department deputies assisted with traffic control at the blocked intersection.
The driver of the SUV, Marilee Schueler, 67, of Columbia, was traveling northbound on Route 3. When she attempted to turn left onto Valmeyer Road she collided with the southbound semi. Schueler was transported to Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis with minor injuries. She was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
The driver of the semi was Johnathan Hayes, 25, of Bowling Green, Mo., with Lael Trucking of Louisiana, Mo. Hayes was not cited and refused treatment at the scene.
