James L. Scheibe, 80, of Waterloo, died Oct. 4, 2018, in Waterloo.

He was born March 15, 1938, in Valmeyer, son of the late Alvin W. and Otilda Scheibe (nee Koch).

He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

At his request his body was donated to Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Scheibe (nee Steppig); brother Alvin (Violet) Scheibe; sister-in-law Betty (Mark) Heitman; two very special ladies, Shelly (Jim) O’Day and Gayle (Larry) Cahoon; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

James was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Lee Scheibe and sister Bonnie Wall.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
