A Columbia man was arrested on felony sex charges following an alleged incident that occurred earlier this week.

Matthew D. Brawley, 26, is charged with six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Court information alleges that Brawley engaged in sex acts with a female victim who is under 17 but at least 13 years of age.

Columbia police were first contacted to investigate the case shortly before 4:30 a.m. Oct. 3 at a residence in the 900 block of North Main Street.

Brawley has entered a plea of not guilty to all counts and remains at the Monroe County Jail in Waterloo with bond set at $40,000. A preliminary hearing date of Nov. 2 has been set.
